Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC are set to join forces to represent Ghana at the upcoming 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, DC.

The two clubs will merge their players into a single squad for a friendly match against Major League Soccer (MLS) team DC United.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Audi Field, this highly anticipated match is part of the Ghana Week DC 2024 celebrations, organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The event aims to showcase Ghanaian culture and heritage in the United States.

Ghana Week DC 2024 will take place from October 7-12, with the match serving as a centerpiece of the festivities.

Originally, Asante Kotoko was set to compete alone; however, visa complications hindered many of their players from entering the US.

Medeama SC, which participated in last year’s event and has players with valid US visas, stepped in to strengthen the combined squad.

The Kotoko-Medeama team is expected to depart for the United States on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, as they prepare for this significant encounter against DC United.
