Asante Kotoko climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League table with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

The decisive goal came early in the second half, with Albert Amoah netting in the 48th minute.

Amoah finished confidently after receiving a well-placed cross from Dauda Saaka, ensuring Kotoko's second consecutive win of the season.

Kotoko dominated much of the game, controlling 55% of possession and registering 17 goal attempts, four of which were on target.

In contrast, Accra Lions struggled offensively, managing only five goal attempts and testing the Kotoko goalkeeper just twice.

Despite the close scoreline, Kotoko's superior performance was evident, with their defense holding firm to secure a clean sheet.

The win moves them to the top of the league standings, tied on points with Bibiani Goldstars but ahead on goal difference.

Next, Kotoko will look to extend their winning streak when they face Legon Cities. Accra Lions, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back from their slow start when they take on Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture.

Kotoko's supporters will be eager to see if their team can maintain this momentum and stay at the summit of the table.
