Asante Kotoko Football Club has strongly condemned the unacceptable behavior exhibited by some of its supporters during their recent Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The club labeled the conduct of the fans as 'detestable,' particularly their verbal abuse and attempted physical assault on match officials.

The Porcupine Warriors, acknowledging the seriousness of the misconduct, have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their supporters' actions and have until Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to provide a response.

Even before the official hearing, the club's interim management committee issued a statement expressing their disapproval of the supporters' behavior towards the match officials.

The statement emphasized that Asante Kotoko does not condone any actions that undermine the integrity of the sport.

Furthermore, the club assured its stakeholders that it is taking necessary steps to collaborate with the GFA in addressing and finding a lasting solution to the matter.

However, Asante Kotoko also called upon the GFA to address broader issues such as officiating, safety, and security, which can potentially undermine the integrity of the game at all levels.

The statement reiterated the club's commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship and fair play, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to prioritize the integrity of the game to elevate Ghanaian football to greater heights.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko's on-field struggles continue, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nations FC, extending their winless streak to four matches in the Premier League.

The loss has dropped them to the 9th position on the league standings, highlighting the need for both on-field and off-field improvements within the club.
