Management has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians and particularly Asante Kotoko supporters for their support during the club’s 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday.

In a statement signed by the Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq), on Monday, the club said it was grateful to the fans for their support in the CAF Confederation Cup game whose victory secured the team a berth in the playoff of the competition.

"The Executive Chairman and management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club extend their deepest appreciation to the people of Ghana in general and its teeming supporters in particular who thronged the Baba Yara Stadium last Saturday to support the club in its victory over Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya."

"Management believes that qualification to the next stage of the competition is unarguably attributed to the wonderful support the team enjoyed from the vociferous fans who throughout the game motivated, inspired and encouraged the team with booming voices even in times when the team could hardly find its rhythm," the statement said.

The appreciative George Amoako-led management also extended appreciations to the stakeholders who played diverse roles in ensuring that the event went on successfully.

“Management also commends the National Sports Authority, the media, security agencies, the Red Cross Society and the National Ambulance Services for their various roles before, during and after the match which ensured an incident-free match and the hard-won victory we are celebrating now.”

Management, however, wished that: “As the club seeks to progress to the group stage of the competition, it would need the same collaborative efforts from its partners and stakeholders to be able to achieve that feat."

“It, therefore, calls on all and sundry to continue to assist the club in diverse ways to be able to perform creditably in the competition," the statement added.
