Asante Kotoko have bolstered their attacking options with the acquisition of former Dreams FC and Inter Allies forward Johnson Owusu Oppong, ahead of the 2025/26 football season.

The 27-year-old, who recently returned to Ghana following a stint in Tajikistan, has signed a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors after positive negotiations between both parties.

Local media outlet Opemsuo Radio reports that Owusu Oppong finalized his move over the weekend after passing his medical at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The versatile attacker brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with Ghanaian football, having previously played key roles for Inter Allies and Dreams FC.

Notably, he was a standout performer during Dreams FC’s historic run to the semi-finals of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

His signing is said to be at the recommendation of head coach Karim Zito, who sees Owusu Oppong’s experience as vital to the club’s domestic ambitions and their continental campaign in the upcoming season.

In addition to his domestic contributions, Owusu Oppong has played abroad in Europe, with spells at FC Trinity Zlin (Czech Republic), FK Kukesi (Albania), and several Portuguese clubs including SC Braga U19, Marítimo, and Camacha.

The official announcement from Asante Kotoko is expected soon as the club continues its preparations for a competitive new season on both local and African fronts.
