Asenso Boakye, Minister for Works and Housing, has inspected the drainage systems project at Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
The Minister during his working visit to the area visited the Djankrom and Adoagyiri communities where he explained the government's commitment to constructing good drainage systems to tackle flood-related incidents.
According to him, the government has invested a huge amount of money in the construction of drainage channels while admonishing citizens to manage household solid waste properly.
Mr Asenso-Boakye promised to deliberate with the government to oversee all the necessary engagements required for constructing drainage channels for communities to help curb recurrent flooding in the country.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians for greater respect for rules and regulations governing the country’s settlement planning and development control.
He pleaded with Ghanaians to support the government effort in the fight against flood in the country adding that the fight is a collective responsibility.
He urged the public to refrain from throwing garbage into the drains as it paves the way for flooding, adding that the government cannot meet its target if Ghanaians continue dumping solid waste into drainage channels.
He advised the public to desist from building in a waterlogged areas.
On his part, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri extolled the government and the Minister for constructing drainage systems to help prevent flood in the constituency.
He indicated that the area has been experiencing flooding whenever it rains, urging the sector minister to speed up the process to enable the residents to live comfortably in the area.
He also urged the Minister for Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta to dedicate a fund for the Ministry for Works and Housing to deliver its mandate because of climate change.
