Ato Forson honoured as Africa’s top Finance Minister for 2025

Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has been named Most Outstanding African Finance Minister of the Year 2025 at the Africa Development Council (ADC) African Leadership Ratings and Awards.

The honour was bestowed under the prestigious Order of the Star Awards category, which recognises exceptional leadership and outstanding performance across key sectors on the African continent.

Dr Forson received the award in recognition of his fiscal discipline initiatives, macroeconomic stabilisation efforts and far-reaching public finance reforms aimed at positioning Ghana on a path of sustainable economic recovery.

According to the Africa Development Council, the Finance Minister’s policy direction and stewardship of Ghana’s public finances have played a critical role in restoring investor and public confidence, while laying a solid foundation for long-term economic growth.

The award also highlights his commitment to prudent expenditure management, strengthened revenue mobilisation and reforms focused on improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in public financial management.

Since assuming office, Dr Forson has spearheaded policies to stabilise inflation, enhance budget credibility and promote responsible debt management, as part of broader efforts to rebuild and strengthen the Ghanaian economy.

The ADC African Leadership Ratings and Awards celebrate individuals and institutions that demonstrate excellence, innovation and measurable impact in governance and development across Africa.

Dr Forson’s recognition places Ghana among a select group of countries whose leaders are being acknowledged for advancing transformative economic policies on the continent.
