Ghana international, Christian Atsu is inching close to a loan move to Newcastle United after Rafa Benitez suggested that he could be needing two more wingers with an injury to Newcastle midfielder, Rolando Aarons.

Sky Sports reported yesterday that Newcastle were keen on Chelsea’s 24 year-old Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu, and that Newcastle want to take him on loan for the season.

Sky Sports Keith Downie tweeted that Newcastle have inquired about the winger, but that Newcastle also had a number of other targets.

With Rolando Aarons injured and out for at least eight weeks, Rafa Benitez said today in his press conference for the Brighton game tomorrow, that he would need to analyze whether two wingers were now needed rather than just one.

If Newcastle United were to sign the 24-year-old winger temporarily, they will face fierce competition as Serie A side Torino are also reportedly interested in the Black Star player.

Atsu, 24, joined Chelsea from Porto in 2013 but has spent the last three seasons out on loan after seeing his first-team chances limited at Stamford Bridge.
