Michael Essuman Mensah, the Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive and Head of the Municipal Security Council, claims the shooting that happened near the Steps to Christ polling centre was staged.
The two individuals wounded in the shooting are believed to be part of the NDC.
According to the MCE, the NPP is unaware of the shooting incident.
Speaking to Citi News, the MCE discussed the shooting and how he received intel about it yesterday [Sunday].
“There have been gunshots in a community called peace town… In fact, yesterday just around five-o’clock the NDC went for a meeting. They closed the meeting around seven-thirty pm. Then I had the intel that they were going to stage fake incidents and blame the MP,” Mr. Mensah said.
The MCE said he alerted Mrs. Hawa-Koomson about the plan to stage the shooting the night he heard about it.
“You can ask the MP. I forwarded the intel to her, I sent it to the divisional peace commander and we discussed. Even Steps to Christ I was there yesterday all the way till about 11 pm. I was in that community there was nothing like that… And Indeed this morning we sat with Honourable Mavis Hawa Koomson to let her know that this is what they have planned. They are preparing to provoke her and to soil her name.” said Mr.Mensah.
He has vowed to address the incident which he says tarnishes the image of the area.
“I am going to take up this matter personally it is becoming one too many. They are planting Kasoa into some kind of image crisis, which is not good for all of us. So we are not going to let this one be swept under the carpet,” the MCE said.
