The Emile Short Commission of Inquiry have demanded for the list of all the masked men who were present on the grounds at the Ayawaso West Wuogon elections on January 31 2019.

The Commission which was set up by President Akufo Addo have called on the National Security to present the list of all the members of the SWAT team present on the election grounds within the shortest possible time.

The Commander in charge of the Team Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)  Samuel Kojo Azugu, who was present before the Commission  earlier today had indicated that he does not know all of them although he led them to the grounds on the day of the by-elections.

He said, “I don’t know all of them, I only know few personally”.

He earlier stated that, the present of the SWAT team on the day of the elections was just to build confidence but had nothing to do with the elections.

Mr Azugu explaining what he meant by confidence building said that the National Security operatives would drive their vehicles through the streets of where the elections were being held.

He was unable to affirm whether the vehicle used by the masked men branded ‘Police SWAT’ belonged to the Ghana Police Service but added that it was inherited from his  predecessors.

The masked men were seen assaulting some electorates on at the La Bawaleshie polling station on the morning of the elections.

The violence that erupted on the day of the election led to gunshots as well as assault on the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram constituency Hon. Sam George.
