The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Honourable Naser Mahama Toure  has declared the Ayawaso East Easter Cup as a "wonderful success", after the maiden edition received a huge patronage.

Honourable Toure,also known as Mc Nazar, ina move to foster unity among his constituents,organised  the Easter tournament, which he says will be made "an annual affair".

The grand finale was played on Monday 2nd April with Nima All Stars clinching the novelty tournament.

Speaking to ghanaguardian.com after presenting the trophy to the eventual winners, Honourabel Mc Nazar heaped praises at members of his constituency and called on them to uphold the unity they have enjoyed over the years.

"Our reasons for organising this tournament has been met and I can say it's seen a wonderful success," he said.

"It was to foster unity among the people through football and as  you know, this is zongo and the talents are here.

"The youths love the game and it is my utmost aim to help them realise their talent while we call on members to ensure we live in peace and unity"

Nima Alla Stars wins maiden edition

Nima All stars on Easter Monday defeated Koo Oho team by 1-0 in the grand Finale to clinch the trophy that came along with a 3000ghc cash reward.
They had earlier beaten Haram Bey stars by 2-0 in the semi final whiles Koo Oho beat Nuriya by a lone goal.

The Ten exciting games played at the famous Kawokudi Park in Nima, also saw the presence of  football scouts  with pen and paper, to handpick  talents.

It was an 8-club competition that commenced on the 24th and culminated on the 2nd  of March in order to commensurate with the Easter celebration, according to a member of the organising committee.

The team that competed were Buza 11 Base,Ko-Oho Base,Nuriya Area,Harambey, and Los Angeles.

The rest were Nima All Stars,Ruga United and Down Side.

The first Four teams all received  cash donations based on their performance.

The Champions Nima All Stars received a cash reward of 3000ghc whiles the Koo Oho who were the first runner up received 2000ghc.

The 3rd placed team Nuriya and  the fourth Haram Bey received 1500ghc and 1000ghc  respectively.

The Ayawaso East is a predominately a Muslim community but the tournament lived up to its billing as it brought players and fans from across all the religious divide.

According to the NDC MP, his outfit has put plans in place to improve upon the competition in the subsequent edition of the competition.

"The response has been massive and we can only improve upon what we'v seen today," he said.

"As a leader and their representative in parliament, I deem it a responsibility to ensure there is peace in the constituency and sports is one avenue through which we achieve that ."
