The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East constituency, Naser Mahama Toure has donated food items to muslims in his constituency, in support of their Ramadan fasting, urging them to "pray for the constituency and the nation."
The items already released for onward distribution includes 3,000 bags of sugar; 400 cartons of milk; 400 boxes of lipton tea and 100 cartons of milo.
Presenting the items, honourable Toure, said that the items were to support the Muslims in his constituency as they continue with their fasting.
"This donation is meant to support the muslims in this constituency as we keep observing the fasting in the holy month of Ramadan," he said.
"It is a blessed month in which we all have our sins forgiven and our prayers get answered.
“So pray for the constituency and the nation as a whole so that Allah blesses the land. This flood and fire disaster must never happen again,”.
He urged every Muslim never to give up along the way but endeavor to see the fasting through to the end.
The Ayawaso East is predominantly a muslim Community and the MPs gesture was well accepted by the leaders of the various mosques who showered praises on the MP, who has been described as a "blessing to the constituency".
Speaking to ghanaguardian.com,Ismail Abdul Razak, known in public life as Ember power, who was part of the team said that the donation was an annual contribution by the MP to cushion the Muslims in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He revealed that most parts of the multi-million cedi food items have been distributed to the beneficiaries, while others are currently on dispatch.
"This not the first time and it wont be the last honourable Toure will make such donations,"he said.
This purely a religious deed and so we cannot make much discussions about it.
He has been a blessing to us and we will continue asking Allah's blessing for him and make him successful ."
He urged the beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture by praying for peace and tranquility in Ayawaso East, and the entire country.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar in which a 30 or 29 days of fasting is prescribed and considered on of the five pillars of Islam.
It is a month where the Holy Quran was first sent down to the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa'Sallam).
