Beleaguered Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter, Augustine Oppong who was shot in his eye during a Ghana Premier league match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has appealed to the general public for support.

According to the Oppong, life has become very difficult for him as until being shot in the left eye he was a commercial bus driver.

The Reds lost to Berekum Chelsea by 1:0 in the match-day three fixture  of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with Kofi Owusu getting the only goal of the game.

The football fan was shot in the left eye with a rubber bullet after fans of Kotoko went on a rampage as part of a protest against referees who officiated the match for sending off then defender Empem Dacosta.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Hello FM, he admitted Kotoko supporters and the NCC chairman Christopher Damenya have been very supportive but financially things are very difficult now.

"In  fact, things are difficult for me now. People helped me initially but I had to struggle to feed the family from February. We suffered a lot throughout the lockdown.I even gave my Cocoa Farm out for money.Things are really difficult for me."

"The supporters have done their best and I'm very grateful. Don't know how to thank them. They've been very very supportive."

According to Oppong, he cannot over burden Kotoko NCC Chairman Christopher Damenya with his problems as he has done so much for him and is therefore appealing to the general public to come to his aid.

"Truth is after all that Christopher has done for me, I cannot rely on him to feed me and my family. That'll be unfair and unnecessary pressure on him."

"So, I'm begging everyone to come to my aid. Things are really difficult for me. I need help to cater for my children and wife - who is jobless."

"And, I don't want to drive again looking at the state of my sight in order not to get involved in an accident," he said.
