Residents within the vicinity of the GHAPOHA Junior Club House in Takoradi, Western Region, woke up yesterday to a nerve-chilling sight of a foetus believed to be eight months old dumped in a gutter behind a popular hotel.

The lifeless floating foetus, bundled by its umbilical cord, drew scores of residents and passers-by to the scene to catch a glimpse of the baby.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the premature baby was discovered by a resident of the area at about 7am on Tuesday.

“As soon as I saw the lifeless foetus in the gutter, I called other residents to help me pull it out of the water and then we later called the police,” one resident stated.

Another resident who also became amazed on seeing the dead foetus remarked, “This dead little innocent soul was just found inside the gutter and we are worried about such occurrences.”

For some time now, Takoradi has been recording incidents of such nature. Some months ago, a baby was dumped at Adiembra, a suburb of Sekondi and few days after that, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby boy was dumped at Columbia, close to Amanful.

The police, who later went in for the dead foetus and sent it to a hospital, have instituted a full-scale investigation to uncover the person who committed the immoral act.
