The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu has urged the public to be committed to the payment of taxes while speaking at the workshop organised by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He said anyone who fails to pay their taxes does not have any commitment to the development of the nation.

He said, “When it comes to taxation you should be incorrigibly loyal to your country”.

He has further urged the GRA to be effective and help in the education of the public on the importance of the payment of taxes.

In April this year, the government introduced the Tax Identification Number and it is expected to broaden the revenue of the country to help in the increment of developmental projects.

The Member of Parliament for Berkwai in the Ashanti Region further added that the policy will help the GRA increase the revenue mobilisation of the country and that those who fail in the tax obligation are nation wreckers.
