One person has been confirmed dead after bees attacked supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after a campaign activity in the Kpandai District on Sunday, December 14.

The NDC Kpandai Constituency Secretary, Mr. Robert, said the attack occurred shortly after the party had ended its campaign programme.

The deceased, identified as a chief from one of the communities in the district, was reportedly riding a motorbike when he was attacked by a swarm of bees. In the confusion that followed, he dismounted and attempted to flee but was beaten to death amid the panic.

Some residents have attributed the incident to spiritual causes, describing it as a curse. Authorities, however, have not commented on those claims.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident comes amid heightened political activity in Kpandai, where the Electoral Commission has scheduled a parliamentary election rerun for Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

The rerun follows a High Court ruling that annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election due to irregularities in the collation process.

The contest is expected to feature the same candidates who participated in the 2024 polls, with both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stepping up campaigns ahead of the rerun.
