Armed robbers numbering four on the afternoon of Monday, May 3, 2021, attacked an Accra-bound Metro Mass Transit bus at the outskirts of Begoro in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region.

The robbers used a police barricade to block the road and succeeded in robbing occupants of the bus of their valuables and cash running into several thousands of Ghana Cedis.

According to police information available to MyNewsGh.com, the driver in charge of the bus with registration number GT 3389-Z lodged a complaint that on reaching the Begoro police snap checkpoint at Koradaso, they were attacked by four (4) armed men on facemasks and robbed them with their cash an amount of GH¢36,480.00 and nine (9) mobile phones.

Police proceeded to the scene but the armed robbers had already bolted. Investigation at the scene revealed that the duty men Corporal Roland Owusu, Lance Corporal Rufai Abubakar and Lance Corporal Samuel Boadu who supposed to be on duty were not there during the robbery.

The three officers left the padlock to the door where the police barricades were kept unlocked which enabled the robbers to get access to the room and mounted their own barriers   and robbed the passengers

According to the victims, aside from losing their money and other valuables, they were also subjected to severe beatings by robbers

The scene was further combed but no trace of the armed robbers but police preliminary investigation suggests that one of the armed robbers by name Alidu an ex-convict who returned from prison about three weeks ago was among.

On the same day, however, Ankomah George a taxi driver came to the charge office with a black bag containing 2 shirts, a torchlight, pair of slippers, a1 butter bread, a pair of black socks, a Colgate toothpaste, 2 rubber bottles of Burkina drink, a nose mask, 2 sachets of alive water and a bunch of keys and reported that he was in charge his taxi cab with registration number GT 6368-X with three passengers on board and were robbed at the same place with an amount of GH¢4,200.00 and a mobile phone but found the said bag at the crime scene after the armed robbers fled.

Police reveal that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects
