Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Berekum, Hon. Kofi Agyei has laid accusing fingers on the team manager of Berekum Chelsea Obed Nana Kwame as the architect behind the postponement of their league game against Elmina Sharks.

The Week 3 Ghana Premier League (GPL) clash between the sides was postponed to make way for an Easter Convention organised by the Church of Pentecost at the Golden City Park in Sunyani.

Speaking on Abusua FM, the MCE explained that he had nothing to do with renting out the Park but rather it was Nana Kwame who gave the church the go ahead for the program on the day of the match citing that God is more important than football.

“Please let me state it categorically clear that it was Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah  who gave the Pentecost church the go ahead to do their program.

Football is the greatest passion of the nation and I can never give the park to any church when I know there is going to be a football match.

The park was in a bad state especially the inner perimeter because of the harmattan season so we were trying to fix it when the Pentecost Elders approached us that they wanted to use it for their crusade but I rejected it times without number.

The coordinating council and the Engineers went and saw Nana Kwame and he gave them the go ahead as he said the work of God is more important than football.

It was a mutual understanding between Nana Kwame and the Pentecost church.

We dealt with the team managers that is Nana Kwame and Yakubu and they should have communicated that to the FA.

Per this experience, I have asked Nana Kwame to present all the fixtures to the assembly so that we will know when they have match or not”
