Bernard Mensah has won the Turkish SuperLig title with his Besiktas side on the final day of the season in dramatic circumstances on Saturday after victory over Goztepe.

The Black and whites defeated Goztepe 2-1 at the Gursel Arksel Stadium on Saturday night.

Mensah who was part of the match day squad was an unused substitute as his side beat off stiff competition from bitter rival Galatasaray by a single goal to win the league as both sides were level on 84 points.

Croatian defender Domagoj Vidal scored the opening goal for Besiktas after ten minutes before Alpaslan Ozturk pulled parity for the home side.

Algerian winger Rachid Ghezzal scored late on from the penalty spot to give his side all the three points and the league title.

The 27 year old Ghanaian midfielder who is on loan at Besiktas from Kayserispor has now won his first ever League title in Europe having played for Athletico Madrid and Vitoria Guimaraes

Besiktas have the option to make the loan deal permanent but that looks grim as the Ghanaian has been below par.

Mensah made 31 appearances for Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig scoring four goals.
