Black Princesses head coach Yussif Basigi has underscored the necessity of his team arriving in Colombia at least a week before the U-20 Women's FIFA World Cup kicks off.

The tournament will be held in the South American country from August 31 to September 22, marking Ghana's seventh consecutive appearance.

Basigi's team is set to compete in Group E against Austria, New Zealand, and former World Champions Japan.

With the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage, the Black Princesses are aiming to reach the Round of 16 for the first time.

To achieve this goal, Basigi emphasized the importance of early acclimatization to Colombia's altitude.

“The authorities concerned know what it takes," Basigi stated.

"The timeline is also a factor, so we need to acclimatize because the altitude there is a consideration. I know we will get there a few weeks or days before the competition begins,” he added.

The Black Princesses are currently training in Cape Coast in preparation for the tournament. Basigi believes his team is motivated and ready to make a significant impact in Colombia.
