Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has named a 24-player squad for Ghana’s upcoming friendly matches against Côte d'Ivoire scheduled for May 30 and June 3, 2025.
These matches are part of the team's preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be held in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
The squad announcement features a blend of experienced players and exciting new additions. Most of the players who were part of last month’s friendlies against Senegal have retained their spots.
Among the fresh faces earning their maiden call-ups are midfielder Nancy Amoh of Ampem Darkoa Ladies and goalkeeper Afi Amenyaku of Northern Ladies, both of whom impressed during the recent training camp at the GFA Technical Center in Prampram.
Also receiving their first invitations to the national team are Abigail Kofi Kim, who plays her club football with Ankara BB Fomget in Turkey, and former Black Princesses defender Louisa Animwaa, who currently plies her trade with Valadares in Portugal.
In addition, Grace Acheampong of TP Mazembe and Alice Kusi of Al Ahli have returned to the squad after a period of absence.
This will be the third set of friendly matches for the Black Queens in 2025, following their two-match series against Senegal.
The fixtures against Côte d'Ivoire are expected to provide valuable preparation as Ghana continues to build a competitive side for the continental championship.
Coach Kim emphasized the importance of consistency while also integrating new talent, stating that the games would help test the team's readiness and offer valuable experience to the new call-ups.
