Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle expressed her delight after leading Ghana back to the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana secured qualification by defeating Namibia 3-2 on aggregate, marking their return to the tournament for the first time since 2018.

Hauptle, pleased with the team's performance, is already looking forward to the upcoming tournament in Morocco next year.

She highlighted the hunger and willingness of the players to compete in WAFCON, emphasizing that many of them deserve the opportunity.

"The performance today is closed because we qualified. Ghana is back in the WAFCON, and we are hungry and willing to play there, and I think a lot of the players deserve it," Hauptle stated after the game.

The coach acknowledged the youthfulness of the squad, with several young players experiencing the tournament for the first time.

Hauptle expressed pride in the team's overall performance, noting that they won 10 out of 11 games during the qualification process.

Looking ahead, Hauptle sees a positive trajectory for the team, expressing optimism and pride in their achievements.

The Black Queens are not only eyeing success in WAFCON but are also aiming for a place at the next year's Olympic Games.

They are set to face Zambia in the final round of qualifiers in February 2024.

As the team continues its journey, Nora Hauptle's leadership and the players' determination bode well for Ghana's aspirations in women's football on the continental and international stages.

The return to WAFCON signals a new chapter for the Black Queens, and their coach remains focused on building on their recent successes.
