The Black Queens were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Ivory Coast’s Les Elephants in an intense international friendly played in Abidjan. Despite enjoying large spells of possession, Ghana struggled to convert early dominance into goals.

Doris Boaduwaa came close to breaking the deadlock with a stinging effort, but the Ivorian goalkeeper reacted sharply to keep the score level. The breakthrough eventually came, as Ghana found rhythm and punished defensive lapses.

Sherifatu Sumaila and Chantelle found the net, with a further defensive blunder from the hosts gifting the Queens a third goal and a commanding 3-0 lead.

But the Ivorians mounted a spirited comeback, capitalizing on defensive errors from the Black Queens to claw back all three goals and force a draw in front of their home crowd.

Although disappointed with the missed opportunity to secure a win, head coach Kim Lars Björkegren highlighted the positives from the encounter and expressed confidence in his side’s ability to improve ahead of the second leg on Tuesday.
