Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have officially moved their base from Benslimane to Siaïda as they enter the final phase of preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The relocation signals the end of a two-week pre-tournament training camp, during which the team focused on tactical drills and physical conditioning.

As part of their build-up, the Black Queens played three international friendlies against Malawi, Benin, and Nigeria, gaining valuable match sharpness ahead of the tournament.

With the warm-up phase now behind them, the Queens are turning their full attention to the competition, where they aim to make a bold statement following their absence from recent editions.

The 2024 WAFCON is scheduled to run from July 5 to July 26 in Morocco. Ghana will compete in Group C, facing a challenging set of opponents: defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.

This year marks Ghana’s first WAFCON appearance since 2018, and expectations are high as the team looks to reclaim its place among Africa’s elite in women’s football.
