The Black Satellites of Ghana on Sunday lost 2-0 to a strong Nigerian side in their opening game of the WAFU Zone B  U-20 Cup of Nations.

Nigeria started  the game on the  front foot and quickly took the lead in the 5th minute after a slow start  from the Ghanaians.

Aminu Muhammad did not waste time as he shot  Nigeria into the lead with a well taken strike.

Nigeria wrapped up the game with substitute Ahmed Abdullahi cutting in from the right and sending a  deflected shot into the goal in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.

The Dreams FC technical director speaking during the post match press conference blamed the harsh weather condition in Niger for the loss.

"I think Nigeria took opportunity of adapting so early. Our brothers came here early and we arrived late but we were beating by a good side. We also had some clear chances but couldn't score. I'm not downhearted. We have another game and we will do our best to win."

"The weather affected the game. The climate here is different from that of Ghana that is why I commended Nigeria for coming early. We will use Nigeria to prepare ourselves now for our next game. The weather affected our performance."

The Black Satellite will play against the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso in their next game on Saturday, May 14, 2022
