Players of the senior men's national team the Black Stars each received $2000 for the two friendly games against Mali and Qatar played in Turkey.

This was made known by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku in an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM.

Ghana played two friendly matches that will serve as preparatory games for the team ahead of the AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Sudan.

The first game was played with Mali with Ghana losing by three goals to nil before beating Qatar 5-1 three days later in Antalya, Turkey.

Speaking on Monday in an interview with Nhyira FM, the GFA boss disclosed that each player was handed $2000 after the two games.

He also adds that there has even bee a reduction in the $5000 that was paid in the past to the team after friendly games considering the times.

“The players were paid $2,000 for the friendly games [unlike the $5,000 we used to pay after each game] because of the circumstance at hand,” Okraku said.

“However, let me hasten to add that the players were not interested in the monetary benefits, rather team building. This is because we are preparing a new team for the future,” he added.
