General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, says the minority exhibited "immaturity" by their conduct in Parliament on Tuesday.

He says as elected Members of Parliament (MPs) who carry the mandate of the people, they ought to know better and ought not to have acted the way they did.

He was commenting on the Minority's decision to stage a walk out during the swearing-in of the newly elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Hon Lydia Seyram Alhassan, whiles brandishing placards with "bloody widow" inscribed on them.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, John Boadu pointed out that the country has moved beyond this stereotype kind of politics.

"There are other Members of Parliament who have been to Parliament through similar circumstances, yet we do not describe them as "bloody men or women". You see, when we do our politics this way, you will have the whole world laughing at us," he noted.

"This whole violence thing was planned by the NDC because they were ill prepared for the elections, and now they want to hold somebody accountable for their actions. They should be ashamed of themselves," he stated.

Clearly unhappy with the conduct of the NDC MPs, the NPP Chief Scribe was of the view that, this is the period where women need to be encourage to take up such roles in the decision-making process of the country, and not to be needlessly harrassed.

"In anycase, who are they to even say that they don't recognize her as a Member of Parliament or not. Are they the ones to determine who becomes an MP? They should give us a break," he added.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan says she has forgiven the Minority MPs who described her as a bloody widow during her swearing-in.
