A clarion call by former President Mahama that the National Democratic Congress would match the New Patriotic Party ‘boot for boot’ in 2020, has been condemned by Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, popularly known Chairman Wontumi, has made it clear that he is less enthused by the comment made by the former President and would want to call on the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to invite the former leader for interrogation.

“I think it isn’t proper to preempt trouble when he (Mahama) knows he is going to loose the 2020 general elections. The BNI must act swiftly and question him for making such comments which can incite violence. The boot for boot comment from the former President is the talk of losers and we must not allow him to radicalize the innocent youth”, Chairman Wontumi said.

Former President John Mahama sent a strong signal that the NDC will match the NPP 'boot-for-boot' in the 2020 general elections if the current NPP government attempts to use intimidation tactics on NDC members.

His warning came in the wake of the bloody electoral violence recorded last week Thursday during the Ayawaso West Wuogon Bye-elections which saw the NPP Candidate Lydia Seyram Alhassan emerged winner.

According to Mr. Mahama, “NDC is not going to joke in 2020, and he is sounding a warning to the NPP that he and his party will match NPP boot for boot”.

But Chairman Wontumi maintained that the BNI must pick the former leader up for interrogation to serve as detriment to all that none is above the law.
