Former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko has categorically denied a news report that he is going to contest president Akufo-Addo to become the  New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.

Agyarko, according to reports, is livid over his removal from Nana Addo’s government last year. He was axed over a revised Ameri power deal which attracted public outcry and condemnation.

He reportedly made his political ambitions known to some close confidantes during a meeting which was secretly recorded and made available to some media outlets.

However, the first Energy Minister under Akufo-Addo’s government has laughed off over the claims, describing them as “fake news.”

He is of strong conviction that some faceless elements are on a mission to “tarnish” his image.

Below is the brief statement:

DISCLAIMER; BOAKYE AGYARKO TO CONTEST AKUFO ADDO AHEAD OF 2020

My attention has been drawn to a fake news publication on http://www.ghanacrusader.com with an election poster artwork.

Let me state without equivocation or the fear of contradiction that this is the product of an over heated imagination in their continued orchestration to tarnish my image.

I ask the general public to treat this fake news with utter contempt.
