Bofoakwa Tano staged a resilient comeback to secure a draw against Accra Hearts of Oak at the WAFA Park in Sogakope on Monday.

Salifu Ibrahim broke the deadlock for Hearts of Oak in the 23rd minute with a fierce shot that beat Bofoakwa Tano's goalkeeper, Cisse Tijani, at the near post.

Despite dominating the first half, Hearts of Oak failed to capitalize further, with Cisse Kassim and Issah Kuka missing opportunities to extend their lead, leaving the score at 1-0 going into halftime.

After the break, Bofoakwa Tano rallied, putting pressure on the home side and finding the equalizer through Emmanuel Agyenim Boateng in the 55th minute.

The goal shifted momentum in favor of the visitors, who grew in confidence and held firm defensively to deny Hearts of Oak any further goals.

Accra Hearts of Oak, currently in eighth place, remain seven points behind league leaders FC Samartex as they head into their next fixture against Dreams FC.

Under the leadership of Aboubakar Ouattara, the former champions have been unbeaten in three games, securing consecutive victories against Real Tamale United and Nsoatreman FC.

For Bofoakwa Tano, the result serves as a morale boost in their battle against relegation, having been winless since November 5, 2023, when they defeated Nations FC 1-0.

The returnees currently occupy 17th place in the league standings with 20 points, just two points ahead of bottom-placed Real Tamale United.
