AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has lauded the performance of Antoine Semenyo and his teammates following their 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

Despite the disappointment of conceding a late equalizer, Iraola emphasized the positive aspects of their display at St James' Park.

Reflecting on the match, Iraola acknowledged the missed opportunities in the first half, particularly two clear chances that could have altered the course of the game.

However, he commended the resilience and quality shown by his players throughout the match.

Highlighting the team's persistence and belief, Iraola praised the efforts of players like Dominic Solanke, Antoine Semenyo, Marcus Tavernier, and Justin Kluivert, who maintained their energy and commitment despite the missed chances.

He particularly praised the manner in which they scored their goals, showcasing determination and tactical execution, such as pressing the opposition goalkeeper to create scoring opportunities.

“I think they were," said Iraola when asked about the first-half chances missed, before going on to praise the quality of his players. “Especially these two very, very clear chances that I think we should have scored.

“But I think we have to value also that the players Dom (Solanke), Ant (Semenyo), Tav (Marcus Tavernier), Justin (Kluivert), they continued with the same energy, with the same belief.

“The way we scored the first goal, going to press, even to the keeper and scored another goal like this. “I'm really happy with the performance. I mean for me, to come here and play with this personality speaks very well about all the players.”

Expressing satisfaction with the overall performance, Iraola emphasized the importance of playing with personality and belief, noting that their performance against Newcastle demonstrated the character and ability of the entire squad.

Semenyo's contribution, including his goal in the match, exemplifies his importance to the team, having scored four goals in 20 league appearances for Bournemouth this season.
