A normal swimming expedition by a group of friends has turned disastrous as one of them has lost his life.
Identified as Francis Prempeh, the deceased was said to be having fun in the pool when he disappeared. His friends reportedly raised an alarm, but he had died before a group of divers located him at the bottom of the pool.
A police source told THE PUBLISHER that the incident happened at a popular hotel in Oduom near Kumasi.
The deceased, a resident of Kronom in the newly created Suame Municipality, and four other boys, on September 22, visited the hotel to swim.
According to the police source, Prempeh jumped into the pool around 4pm, and by 6pm when his colleagues could not find him, they raised an alarm, which prompted a number of divers to embark on a rescue mission, but to no avail.
Prempeh’s body had since been sent at the morgue, while the police continue with investigations. Initial reports say no mark of violence was seen on the body.
