Reports surfacing is that veteran coach Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie has been confirmed dead after an ambulance transferring him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi  from Korle Bu Teaching hospital (where he was receiving treatment for mild stroke) was involved in a fatal car crash. He died at the age of 66.

Afraine's notable achievement as a coach was that he qualified four different Ghanaian national teams to the World Cup- the Black Starlets in 1991, 1997, 2001 with the Black Satellites where he won silver, and the Black Queens in 1999.

The body has been deposited the Suhum Government Hospital. May his soul rest in peace.
