State-owned telecom operator BSNL has reportedly revised its Rs 99 prepaid recharge plan. The plan, launched in May last year, offers unlimited voice calling and comes with validity of 26 days.

According to a report by TelecomTalk, the validity has been reduced to 24 days now. Other offers under the plan remain unchanged though. This means that the prepaid users will be able to enjoy unlimited voice calls -- both STD and local to any network. However, the plan does not cover Delhi and Mumbai regions.

The report also states that the operator has also increased the cost of SIM replacement in India. Till now, the company charged Rs 10 to replace a SIM for both prepaid and postpaid users. Now, the price has increased to Rs 100. Notably, the new price is effective from 21 January, it reports.

Meanwhile, BSNL recently introduced Rs 899 prepaid plan for its subscribers. Under the new, customers will get unlimited national and local calling. Additionally, the users can avail 1.5GB data per day along with 50 local and national SMS daily. The new plan comes with a validity of 180 days. Therefore, users will get a total of 270GB of data under the plan.

BSNL’s new plan will compete against the 1,999 plan from Reliance Jio. As part of the plan, Reliance Jio subscribers get unlimited local and national calling with 100 SMS per day. Also, the plan offers a total of 125 GB data with no daily FUP limit. The plan, like the BSNL’s Rs 899 plan comes with a validity of 180 days.
