There was no place for Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora in the recent Black Stars call up for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying games.

Abalora who has been a regular fixture since his return to Ghana was conspicuously missing when head C.K Akonnor named his 30 man provisional squad.

The goalkeeper was at fault after his howler gifted Morocco the only goal in a friendly match in Rabat in May.

He was subsequently dropped for Ghana's next match against Ivory Coast in Cape Coast in a friendly that same month after his gaffe against Morocco.

Head coach of the Black Stars C.K Akonnor has explained why he left out Razak Abalora out of his 30 man provisional squad for next month's qualifiers.

Speaking during Friday's press conference to announce his squad Akonnor said: “Abalora is part of the team, he is not out,”

“Sometimes you need that break to wake up and know that there is a big deal going on”

“He is still part of our team, he is not out” he added

Razak Abalora and his Kotoko side ended the season empty handed after a disappointing showing.
