Former Ghana coach C.K Akonnor is the third African coach to lose his job after the opening two matches of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

After just two matches three coaches have now been sacked with the former Black Stars captain the latest casualty.

Egypt sacked their coach Hossam El Badry after a 1-1 draw with Gabon in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and replaced him with former Portugal, Iran and Real Madrid coach Carlos Quiroz.

Former Al Ahly coach El Badry was dismissed despite not losing one of his ten games in charge, winning six and drawing four.

Zimbabwe who are in the same group as the Black Stars of Ghana sacked their Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic after just a point in two games in group G.

Logarusic penned a two-year contract to handle Zimbabwe on January 29, 2020, and he oversaw a total of 14 matches, managing one win, eight defeats, and five draws.

Then on Monday the GFA terminated the appointment of Black Stars head coach C.K Akonnor and that of his two assistant coaches.

Ghana will face Zimbabwe in the next round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers next month and both countries will have to do it with new coaches.
