It was a disastrous start for Ghana coach C.K Akonnor after waiting for almost eight months to make his bow as the Black Stars coach.

Ghana endured a difficult evening in Antalya, Turkey as the Malian run the Ghana team rugged for 90 minutes.

Mali showed a lot of verve, grit and invention going forward as they opened the scores three minutes into the game as their captain, Hamari Troare opened the scores after taking the ball from his own half beating Gideon Mensah who had a game to forget before slotting past Lawrence Ati Zigi in post.

Ghana struggled to create anything going forward as the Malian goalie had a field day during the first half.

It was a tepid display and the second half did not get any better as captain Hamari Troare who scored the first goal turned provider this time from the right flank where Gideon Mensah was playing with a nice cross which was nicely guided home by 19 year old Stade Reims striker El Bilal Touré to make it two nil.

Ghana struggled to play a short on target the whole 90 minutes as the strikers were starved off supply while the midfielders appeared missing in the game.

The third goal was terrible to watch as the Malians beat the offside trap and initially struck the foot of the post but the ball watching defenders were protesting for offside as Amadou Haidara made it three nil.

New coach C.K Akonnor and his technical team have their work cut out for them as Ghana play Qatar in three days time before facing Sudan in November in the AFCON qualifier.
