President of the Confederation of African Football Ahmad Ahmad has thrown his weight of support behind Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Liverpool ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Despite being a Real Madrid fan himself, Ahmad says he will be praying for Africa’s contingents in the finals of the biggest competition in European club football.

Liverpool will face reigning 12-time champions Real in Kiev on May 26 in their first final in the tournament since 2007.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Porto, Manchester City and Roma in the knockout stages after topping their group with three victories and three draws.

Real Madrid have been equally as impressive, defeating Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich as they bid to secure a hat-trick of Champions League wins.

Asked whether he had spoken to Mohamed Salah to promote the 2026 World Cup in Morocco: "No. No, the African Football Force can force the player to promote or support any World Cup bid." What I ask Salah to focus on is to win the Champions League with Liverpool vs. Real Madrid " President Ahmad replied.

"It's no secret that I'm a Real Madrid fan, but I hope Liverpool win, I'll pray for Salah and Sadio Mane to win the title."
