Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban has broken his silence for the first time after sealing a transfer move from Turkish side Trabzonspor to Genoa.

The player in an emotional letter to the fans of Trabzonspor dispelled a lot of rumours and untruth peddled about him while he was seeking to move.

Ekuban joined Genoa for a reported €1.8m after selling Eldor Shomurodov to Roma this summer.

Ekuban signed a deal until June 2024 with the Rossoblu and the former Leeds striker from Ghana returns to Italy, where he started his career at Mantova.

Here is the full farewell message from Caleb Ekuban:

"To Trabzonspor fans...

I apologize for my silence so far against the speculations and allegations that have arisen about me. I never had bad intentions against Trabzonspor. You made me feel at home. I fought for 2 years to leave unforgettable memories for the wonderful fans of Trabzon. I tried a lot. I just didn't win. I learned from some of them. My eyes are full of joy. I will continue to follow Trabzonspor. I want you to know that I love Trabzonspor fans. Thanks for everything. You never know what will happen in football. But goodbye for now... Trabzon is everywhere for us!"

On the other hand, Ekuban shared a short video on his social media account in which he explained that he wanted to say goodbye to Trabzonspor fans with a video, but the club did not accept it.
