Former chairman of the Division One League Board, Lawyer Kwame Ntow Fianko has questioned why the GFA is insistent on organizing the 26th ordinary congress on the 1st September 2020.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is expected to give its verdict on the landmark case between Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer and the GFA.

Already the Swiss based Sports court have twice postponed the date for the verdict and have now set 1st September for its decision that could have serious ramifications on the future of Ghana football depending on the outcome.

“Can’t we get any other date apart from 1 September for the congress?” Ntow Fianko quizzed on Happy 98.9FM.

“If we at Congress everybody will be in a panic mood. We should all wait for the CAS ruling so we know our stand before we go to Congress.

“People will be too anxious to know the outcome of the verdict. We cannot be waiting for the CAS verdict on the day of Congress. That date is a serious day because that is the day will know the fate of Ghana football.

He urged all the clubs to reject the date set by the GFA for the Congress.
“The clubs should say no to the date set by the GFA for Congress. The Congress can be postponed to a later date an I urge the clubs to say no to the new date”,he added.

The GFA has fixed its 26th ordinary congress for the Ghanaman Soccer Center for Excellence in Prampram.
