Ghana’s female table tennis champion, Celia Danso, says she is eyeing a dream appearance at the 2019 All Africa Games and the 2020 Olympic Games with the Black Loopers after winning the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Chairman’s Cup last month at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Celia, who defied all odds to be crowned champion in the women’s division of this year’s GTTA Chairman’s Cup, has her sights set on being part of the Black Loopers team who will represent the country in the women’s competition at the All Africa Games.

The Ghanaian table tennis sensation, who placed third at last year’s GTTA Open competition, told the Graphic Sports that she was not only determined to make an appearance at the All Africa Games but also to win a medal at the forthcoming continental competition to be held in the Moroccan city of Casablanca later in the year.

“My Coach is taking me through some tactical training for me to improve more on my skills and prepare for international competitions. I’m looking forward to being part of the team that would be selected to represent Ghana in the All Africa Games,” she said.

“My aim is not just to represent Ghana but also win a medal and qualify the country to the Olympic Games. That has always been the dream and this year, my coach and I have been preparing well to make that dream possible and part of our hard work was evident in the Chairman’s Cup where I emerged as the women’s champion.”

Just before the All Africa Games, Celia is looking forward to extending her exploits to Nigeria at the ITTF Seamaster Open in August where the youngster hopes to add another major title to her name.
