Several companies have showcased their key laptops or TVs at the ongoing VES 2019 conference that is being held in the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center in the US. However, one of the firms that seem to have gone ‘big’ this year at CES is Google. The search giant until this year had a not-so-noticeable presence and reserved its major announcements for Google IO or the Pixel event for later. But this year at CES 2019, the firm has stressed a lot on its Assistant service. Google Assistant Connect The search giant introduced Google Assistant Connect. Device manufacturers can use this platform to bring the Assistant in an easier manner. This means that the platform will help Google span its wings across various other smart devices that the traditional ones like TVs and smartphones.
“Assistant Connect creates opportunities to bring different types of smart devices to the market.
For example, a partner could create a simple and inexpensive e-ink display that continually projects the weather or your calendar, while using Assistant Connect to deliver content from your linked smart speaker,” said Manuel Bronstein, vice president of Products, Google Assistant in a blog post.
Developers can fill out a form to know more about how to integrated Assistant Connect in their devices. Smart Clock and Smart Display Google has brought its Smart Clock and Smart Display in Lenovo devices. The Assistant-based Smart Clock lets users see alarms suggestions based on their routines, wake up with auto adjusting screen brightness and animations among others features.
At CES 2019, Whirlpool also previewed Google’s KitchenAid Smart Display that guides you through a recipe. Partners in home entertainment Google has finally introduced its Assistant in the Sonos One and Sonos Beam speakers. They have built-in Google Assistant that lets you control room lights, music, podcasts and more without picking up the smartphone. In addition, the Assistant will be coming to Samsung TVs, receivers and products from other brands. More devices with Google Assistant Google says that at CES it is working on launching new products with Assistant integration. “At CES, we’re working with even more brands to launch new smart home devices this year, including select Whirlpool connected appliances, GE’s smart microwave and August security products,” added Bronstein.

Google Maps gets Assistant

The firm also took the opportunity to announce that Google Assistant is finally on Google Maps. The firm says that its Assistant can help navigate in Google Maps and share your ETA with friends and family using voice commands. It is also possible to use voice commands to text messages, play music and more.

Assistant improvements over smartphone

Google, in addition to letting users check in to flights, save their boarding pass and more with Assistant, the service will also work from the smartphone’s lock screen. A new feature called an Interpreter Mode that helps you translate a conversation in real time. The feature has been showcased at CES 2019 as well.
