Frank Lampard's Chelsea tasted their first defeat of their pre-season tour in Japan after a late goal from former Brazilian International Leandro Damiao condemned the Blue to a defeat.

Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale proved a resilient side for Lampard's teams after Kawasaki keeper Jung Sung Ryong's fine form.

He kept out Kenedy and Olivier Giroud and when it looked like a Mason Mount effort would beat him, he had a defender to thank for blocking the first-half shot.

Young American Star Christian Pulisic who joined the Blue's pre-season training in the week had the chance to show the stuff he is made of in the last 25minutes of the game.

He played on both flanks in his 25 minute cameo, combining with Kennedy and Mason Mount behind Michy Batsuahyi.

Willy Caballero was largely untroubled until the final stages when Kawasaki seized the initiative and created a flurry of late chances, one of which was converted by sub Leandro Damiao after  Chelsea failed to clear a corner.

The Blues will take on Spanish Champions Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium in Saitama, home of the Urawa Red Diamonds  in their next game on on Tuesday 23 July.
