Immigration and Customs officers at the Wonjuga border post at Chereponi in the North East Region are counting their losses after a rainstorm destroyed parts of the building that accommodates them.

The rainstorm caused serious destruction in the area, ripping off the roofs of several homes.

Electricity poles have also been destroyed after the storm which occurred on Thursday evening.

Some of the officers who spoke to Citi News said they now have no place to lay their heads.

“Yesterday’s rainstorm was not good. The strong winds wrecked our residence and our residence is not a weak structure,” one officer said to Citi News.

He added that: “the storm affected the whole town. The light poles at the barracks are also broken.”
