Akosua Frema Osei Opare, the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, orchestrated a memorable reception for officials of the Black Queens at the Flagstaff House on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

Led by Chairperson of the Management Committee and Executive Council Member, Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, the Black Queens officials, including head coach Nora Häuptle and Team Manager Hannah Asare, were warmly received.

Hon. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano North, and Jamaldeen Alhassan, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports, represented the Chief of Staff during the event.

The reception marked the return of the Black Queens to Ghana on Friday, March 1, 2024, following their resilient performance in the Olympic Games third-round qualifiers against Zambia.

Despite a commendable 3-3 draw in Ndola on Wednesday, Ghana missed out on advancing to the fourth and final round of qualifiers, having lost 1-0 to the Copper Queens in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

During the reception, the Chief of Staff commended the team's dedication and encouraged them to persevere in their pursuit of excellence during the rebuilding process.

She rewarded the team's efforts with a financial commitment and pledged additional support as they prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Furthermore, the Chief of Staff reiterated her unwavering support for the development of Women's football and the Women's national teams, underscoring their importance in Ghana's sporting landscape.

Ghana boasts four Women's national teams registered for competitions under the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA.

These teams include the Black Damsels, Black Maidens, Black Princesses, and the Black Queens. Notably, the national U-20 team, the Black Princesses, is set to compete in the Women's football event at the 13th African Games, Accra 2024.
