In anticipation of Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Cape Verde tonight, head coach Chris Hughton has acknowledged the challenging nature of the Black Stars' goalkeeping situation.

Hughton emphasized the different types of goalkeepers present in the team over the years, distinguishing between those who are regulars at their clubs and those who consistently shine while representing the national team.

As the team prepares to take on Cape Verde, the goalkeeping choice is likely to fall on Richard Ofori, who hasn't seen a minute of league action this season, potentially edging out the club regular Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

Hughton addressed the media, stating, “What I’d like to think is that we have three goalkeepers in the squad that all could do a very good job for us; they all have different qualities.”

Reflecting on the complexity of the goalkeeping situation over the years, Hughton explained, "Sometimes you will have who is regular at his club, and sometimes you’ll have one who’s not such a regular but can do a fantastic job with the national team.”

Ofori's recent captaincy during the international friendly against Namibia at Baba Yara Stadium suggests Hughton's inclination to appoint him as the primary goalkeeper for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
