There was talks between the football associations of Ghana and The Gambia about a friendly match to prepare the two sides for the African Cup of Nations tournament which starts next month in Cameroon.

But the proposed friendly game has been cancelled by the two sides as the organizers have failed to reach an agreement with the two teams.

This was confirmed by the communications director of the Gambian FA, Baboucarr Camara in an interview with Kumasi based Ashh FM on Thursday morning.

"There was a proposal to play a friendly match between the scorpions of Gambia and the Black stars of Ghana and everyone in Gambia was very excited that there's the possibility of this match taking place, but unfortunately the match has been cancelled because the communication between the organizers of the two teams couldn't reach an agreement and so Gambia decided to play Syria and Algeria in pre AFCON training in Doha." he revealed

The Scorpions of Gambia will spend nine days in Doha-Qatar and will return to Banjul before leaving for Cameroon.

We are preparing very well for the upcoming AFCON, and because of the pandemic the confederation of Africa Football has allowed the maximum associations to called extra five players to the squad to make it 28 players from each team and We are the first country to present our final 28 man squad to CAF.
