President John Dramani Mahama has promised to continue to give chiefs the due respect. He said chiefs were true partners in development and he would always count on them in advancing the country's development.

The President said this when he paid a courtesy call on members of the Ga Traditional Council at the Ga Mantse Palace at North Kaneshie in Accra yesterday on the second day of his re-election campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.

Work done in Accra

He talked about some of the work his government had done in Accra to project the image of the national capital and promised that more would be done in his second term, should he retain power.

He, therefore, expressed the hope that the people would give the NDC a third term to build on what it had done.

President Mahama said Accra, as the gateway to the country, deserved all the necessary attention and that so long as he remained President, he would not fail in that respect.

He told the chiefs that plans were in place to commission the Accra Compost Plant next month.

Ideas

He said the NDC government had the ideas to make Ghana better and expressed the hope that it would win the upcoming elections.

"I am certain that we will win these elections and by 2021, when I leave office, we would have made Ghana a model in the sub-region," he told the chiefs.

He assured them that as President he would work to ensure that the elections passed peacefully.

NPP challenged

On accusations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the NDC manifesto contained ideas of the NPP, President Mahama questioned how that could be when the biggest opposition party did not have a manifesto.

He challenged the NPP to produce its manifesto to back the accusation of plagiarism against the NDC.

The President also visited Abossey Okai and the Agbogloshie and the Makola markets where he interacted with the traders.
