A suit by Madam Akua Donkor seeking the removal of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia from office has been thrown out by the Supreme Court.

The country’s highest court has also fined the Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) GH₵10,000 to deter others from repeating her action.

The outspoken politician had requested the Supreme Court to sanction the ousting of President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia from office in connection with the “Number 12”  expose by Anas Aremeyaw Anas aired in June 2018.

Madam Akua Donkor had contended that the President and his Vice had misconducted themselves because their names were captured in the expose.

She alluded to scenes in the expose where the Former President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi narrated how some Chinese investors, for instance, invested in Ghana through dubious ways including the payments of bribes to key government officials.

On the back of this, Madam Akua Donkor insisted that President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia could not be counted out in the deal.

Madam Akua Donkor among other demands, prayed the Supreme Court to direct the Attorney General to counsel the President and his the Vice President to step down because they had been implicated in the video.

But the Apex court of the land today [Wednesday] found no merit in the application and therefore dismissed same, slapping the complainant with a fine of GH₵10,000.
