His Excellency, President Nana Akufo-Addo has explained that the reason he decided to be the first to take the COVID-19 Vaccine, was to show leadership.

The president, together with the first lady, Her Excellency Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, this morning got vaccinated with the COVID-19 Vaccine, AstraZeneca which arrived in the country last week at the 37 Military Hospital.

The President who addressed the nation last night encouraged Ghanaians to drop the scepticism as regards the COVID-19 vaccine and get themselves vaccinated as it is the surest way of conquering the pandemic.

He mentioned that it was important that he had it "so that everybody in Ghana can feel comfortable about taking this vaccine. It is important that everybody at the end of the day is vaccinated and that's our objective."

Meanwhile, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Mrs. Samira Bawumia are also expected to take their shots later today at the Police Hospital in Accra.
